Selection note: Curated for a prototype that automated near-real-time DSN radiometric-data processing to reduce constant human supervision and improve operational response.

Evidence boundary: Only NTRS metadata and an abstract are open here; implementation, test results, and present operational use were not independently checked. It is autonomy-method context, not automatic claim evidence.

Source-supplied abstract

Operational deep space navigation has in the past, and is currently, performed using systems whose architecture was designed to accommodate tape data transfers and computing environments with a tiny fraction of the current capability. Additionally, this architecture requires constant human supervision and intervention. A prototype for a system which allows relatively automated processing of radio metric data received in near real-time from NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN) without any redesign of the existing operational flow has been developed. This system will allow for more rapid response as well as much reduced staffing to support mission navigation operations.

Abstract text has not been adopted as a GShips conclusion.

What would change this record?

A newer or corrected version, a retraction, a verified duplicate, a material topic mismatch, a changed access state, or claim-level review would trigger a dated editorial update.

Assumptions and limits

  • Only NTRS metadata and an abstract are open here; implementation, test results, and present operational use were not independently checked. It is autonomy-method context, not automatic claim evidence.
  • Source-supplied titles, abstracts, authors, and dates may require correction against the canonical full text.

What would change this page?

A newer or corrected version, retraction, verified duplicate, material topic mismatch, changed access state, or claim-level assessment would change this record.
